Alliance with ProFuturo
The OAS Alliance with ProFuturo aims to contribute to the strengthening and advancement of public policies on digital education in Latin America and the Caribbean. To this end, it articulates actions between the ProFuturo Program and the Educational Portal of the Americas, designing activities that seek to promote intersectoral educational dialogue.
This alliance was presented in 2017 within the framework of the IX Inter-American Meeting of OAS Ministers of Education, and was formalized in 2018, with the signing of a framework collaboration agreement between the OAS General Secretariat, through the Secretariat Executive for Integral Development (SEDI) and the Inter-American Communications Commission (CITEL), and the ProFuturo Program, an initiative of Telefónica Foundation and La Caixa Foundation.

The alliance seeks to contribute to the fulfillment of the objectives established by three main political mechanisms of the Inter-American System:
Agreed upon by the Ministries of Education of the OAS Member States for the period 2017-2022. In particular, with Pillar 1: Quality, Inclusive and Equity Education, and Pillar 2: Strengthening of teaching qualifications.
Promoted by CITEL and signed in June 2016 between the Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro, and the main ICT companies in Latin America, which seeks to contribute to the fulfillment of the objectives of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, through the fight against poverty by integrating ICTs into the national policies of the OAS member states.
Establishes the guidelines for civil society participation in OAS activities and in the hemispheric debate.
