About the course

GBA Plus is an analytical process used to assess how different groups of women, men and people with diverse gender identities may experience policies, programs, and initiatives differently.

The “plus” in GBA Plus does not refer only to biological (sex) and socio-cultural (gender) differences. As human beings, we have multiple characteristics and aspects that intersect to build our unique and diverse identities. GBA Plus considers all of these aspects of human identity - such as race, cultural origin, ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation and/or physical or mental disability, along with biological sex and gender identity, and how they interact to change the ways in which we live policies, programs, and other public initiatives.

This online course introduces users to GBA Plus, explaining its significance and importance. It demystifies the intersectional concepts that underpin GBA Plus and provides guidance on how to apply it to assess how the needs and experiences of different groups are influenced by their intersecting identities, contexts, and lived experiences.
