The Educational Portal of the Americas is an initiative of the OAS committed to generate access to quality education in the Americas and the Caribbean, through the use of information and communications technology (ICT).
Our history
The Portal was founded during the Third Summit of the Americas, held in Quebec City, Canada, in April 2001, as part of the "Connecting the Americas" initiative, which was adopted with the aim of "mobilizing and sharing human resources to strengthen capacities for leveraging information and communication technology for human development "(AG / RES. 5154/11).
In June 2011, when the Portal celebrated its tenth anniversary, the General Assembly of the OAS reaffirmed the support of Member States to this initiative, recognizing it as "a strategic program for the advancement of human development and competitiveness through professional development and institutional capacity building "(AG / RES. 2638 (XLI-O / 11).
