Trains potential virtual tutors to develop pedagogical skills that a virtual learning environment requires so that they can guide and facilitate learning activities and support and evaluate participants in a virtual environment.
Course Objective: Train potential virtual tutors to develop pedagogical skills that a virtual learning and asynchronous environment requires so that they can guide and facilitate learning activities and support and evaluate participants in a virtual environment.
Methodology: This online course is delivered under the academic and technical supervision of tutors. The tutors guide participants throughout the duration of the course by:
- Helping them to access course content;
- Suggesting reading and reference materials;
- Analyzing and evaluating assigned activities as well as forum activities; and
- Resolving technical problems and answering questions.
In addition, the tutors provide students with a weekly analysis of participant responses and make individual interventions when necessary. There is no class schedule, participants can enter the Virtual Classroom when is most convenient for them.
Expected Results: After the 12 week course the participants should have acquired:
- The ability to detect the prior knowledge of future participants and gather information about their work environment
- The ability to select, design, and facilitate learning opportunities
- Pedagogical skills used in the Virtual Classroom and all the aspects of virtual communication and online learning environments
- The ability to self define and self evaluate the role and tasks of an online tutor
- Profesionals working with online learning

2 | Module 1 Introduction to the course | In this module the participants will identify the challenges of EPA online learners and ways in which online tutors can minimize these challenges |
3-4 | Module 2 Role of the tutor in the virtual classroom
Specific Content Classroom SCC | In this module the participants will learn about the EPA instructional model and identify the role and responsibilities of an online tutor
Participants will enter the Specific Content Classroom (SCC) and become familiar with the tutor’s tools |
5-6 | Module 3 Developing online course activities |
In this module participants will design course activities for the online course in the SCC |
7-8 | Module 4 Leading online discussions | In this module participants will identify the characteristics of productive online discussions and create forums and initiate discussions in the SCC |
9-10 | Module 5 The PEA instructional model | In this module participants will write a summary regarding the instructional design of the SCC |

| Module 6 Evaluation and reflection | In this module participants will develop a course calendar for the SCC online course.

Cost:
- The tuition cost for the course is USD $200 (two hundred dollars) for participants who fulfill all the requirements and are selected to receive the partial scholarship provided by the GS/OAS. Participants can apply for the scholarship in the course aplication form.
- The tuition cost for the course, without the partial scholarship is USD $450 (four hundred and fifty dollars)

2.International wire transfers result in extra costs for the participant due to bank fees. Wire transfer fees must be paid in full by the course participant, who must add these fees to the cost of the course.
3. If you are in the United States the only available payment option is through credit or debit card. Deposits or transfers to the Bank of America account will not be accepted.
4. Please note that we do not accept wire transfers from the “Banco de Crédito del Perú” due to extra costs caused by elevated charges.
Evaluation: Participants will be evaluated throughout the course through their participation in the forums and the activities assigned to them in each module
Certification: Participants who successfully complete the diverse course requirements will receive a digital Certificate from the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (GS/OAS)
